Customs

Customs coordination

We coordinate the transport documents. Your broker, or the broker named on the booking, files the entry.

Customs coordination

Customs releases cargo when the declaration matches the goods. Pinnacle Cargo Limited prepares and checks the transport paperwork we need to move the freight. We do not replace the importer of record, and we do not quote duty as if it were our freight rate. Duty and tax belong to the importer unless the written quote says a different Incoterm.

The booking confirmation names the cutoff, the equipment, and the charges. Transit times and sample rates on this site are explanations, not that confirmation. Operations records a milestone only after the cargo or the document has actually moved.

What to send for a written rate

  • City or port of origin, and city or port of destination
  • Mode: ocean, air, or truck, if you already know it
  • Pieces, weight, and dimensions
  • What the goods are, in plain language
  • The date the freight is ready
  • Hazardous, oversized, or temperature-controlled, if any of those apply

A quote is not a booking. The booking starts when you accept the rate, the cutoff, and the document list in writing.

Brokerage

Tell us who the broker is before the cargo arrives. If you want us to introduce a broker, say that in the quote. The broker needs the invoice, the packing list, and any permit the commodity requires.

Documents that must match

The commercial invoice, the packing list, and the bill of lading or air waybill should name the same shipper, consignee, pieces, weights, and goods. A mismatch is a common reason a shipment sits.

  • Description in plain language, not only a part number
  • Country of origin when the destination asks for it
  • Value and currency that match the sale

Exams and holds

A customs exam is ordered by the authority, not by us. Terminal handling and exam fees are passed through. We update tracking when we are told the hold started and when it is released.

How it works

  1. 1

    Name the parties

Shipper, consignee, and broker before departure.

  2. 2

    Send the invoice

Values, quantities, and descriptions that match the cartons.

  3. 3

    We issue the transport document

Bill of lading or air waybill from the booking.

  4. 4

    Release, then deliver

The truck waits for the release, not the other way around.

Questions

Do you pay the duty for me?

Only when the quote uses an Incoterm that includes duty, such as DDP, and we have accepted that scope in writing.

Can tracking show a customs hold?

Yes. The status is Customs when we record that milestone, with the location and the note we were given.

What if I do not have a broker?

Say so when you request the quote. Do not wait until the vessel arrives.
