Cargo that sits past free time accrues storage. It is not abandoned on the first quiet day.
If a consignee does not collect freight or accept delivery, we notify the contact on the booking. Storage follows the quote. A release still requires a written instruction from the party entitled to the cargo. We do not hand freight to someone who only knows the tracking number.
The booking confirmation names the cutoff, the equipment, and the charges. Transit times and sample rates on this site are explanations, not that confirmation. Operations records a milestone only after the cargo or the document has actually moved.
What to send for a written rate
- City or port of origin, and city or port of destination
- Mode: ocean, air, or truck, if you already know it
- Pieces, weight, and dimensions
- What the goods are, in plain language
- The date the freight is ready
- Hazardous, oversized, or temperature-controlled, if any of those apply
A quote is not a booking. The booking starts when you accept the rate, the cutoff, and the document list in writing.
How to ask
Write to operations with the tracking number, the shipper, the consignee, and proof you are one of those parties or their agent. We tell you whether the freight is still on hand and what the storage position is.
If it stays
After the notice period on the carriage document, unclaimed freight can be returned, auctioned, or disposed of as that document and the law allow. Storage and the cost of disposal can be charged to the party responsible on the booking.
